THE KING OF BEERS --This old-time classic Budweiser truck made it's way into the Memorial Day parade with no resistance at all. Note the fashions of the times, featured by these unidentified Parsons College students. The statement of dress for the day included madras pants, no socks and the skinny ties.

THE PARADE -- The Sigma Pi fraternity appears to have gone all out for this Greek Week event, as they parade proudly down the north side of the beautiful Fairfield Town Square in their ancient Greek warrior attire.

PIZZA HUT -- Of course Pizza Hut eventually found it's way to Parsons College and Fairfield. But it was George's Pizza, along with Mostly Pizza, that carried off the "Best of the Best" pizza honors.

RAH-RAH-RAH -- There was never a shortage of excitement and rah-rah support at the stadium when the Wildcats hit the football field. With the cheerleaders leading, the pom-pom girls dancing and the band playing, the noise and intensity of the crowd reached incredible levels of feverish pitch.

THE PURPLE HOUSE -- If Barhydt was the signature building of the Parsons campus, then the Purple House on Highway 34, east of town, was the signature masterpiece of Fairfield. Countless numbers of plays and theatrical events were performed and photographed at this location. In later years and until recently, it also served as the residence of Charles Sloca, former Dean of Parsons College.

SCOTTI'S HAMBURGERS -- There were popular places... then, there were popular places! While the world was getting to know McDonald's, Fairfield, Iowa, and Parsons College had Scotti's. Students of the late 1960's will always remember the inexpensive dates and their trips to Scotti's Hamburgers.
